Totally Mad Fly Fishing

Paul is a very keen fly fishers, I can characterise him as a hardcore even. And he’s been fly fishing all his life but he’s never known the madness of the sport until he attempted catching sailfish on the fly.

MAKE YOUR FIRST CAST COUNT

I often say that to clients, especially when stalking fish and sight fishing as it has proven highly effective. Photo above is Paul’s first sailfish in Kuala Rompin. It also came from his first cast of that day – after waiting 6 hours for a shot opportunity – the fish ate the fly and it was a happy ending indeed.

I will never ever forget that cast or that fish!!! Many thanks for making that memory!

What a way to start the trip. The action was caught on video below:

MADNESS

Day 2 was an absolute chaos. It was non-stop action the moment we started fishing. That was a special day and happens only once in a while.

Sailfish just kept coming, at times multiple fish.

Getting proper hook sets was not always easy. Pulled hooks, jump-off, and sometimes just overly excited messy timings meant some fish got away.

Paul finished the day with 3 sailfish to the boat, still an excellent day on the water. And I think Paul was left pretty much breathless at the end of that day. Crazy.
