A Great Time In Rompin
Thank you Juan for a fantastic time in Kuala Rompin.
This was our first trip to Malaysia and the sail fishing at Rompin was the highlight of what was a great holiday.
We were looked after from the moment we were picked up in KL, to the time we were dropped off at Singapore Airport.
The 3 days both on and off the water were amazing. 10 sailfish strikes, with 7 landed.
We sincerely thank Juan and the team for their extreme effort to provide a great fishing experience. The professionalism and integrity were of the highest standard and our hopes and expectations were truly realised.
We only hope to return to Rompin again and highly recommend Sport Fishing Asia.

To say, I had a great week with Paul & yourself last week – learnt a huge amount on my second trip for Sailfish + I caught a couple of awesome Sail’s as well (also messed up a few!).
Further to our week in 2025, we spoke of a Week in 2026. If that works for you could I ask you let me know that I can let Paul know & we can get it in our (as well as your) diary!
Let’s keep in touch over the weeks after the end of your Season that we can hopefully sort out the merchandise I went over with you on our journey home end last week.

Get to kuala Rompin and be hosted by Juan!!!!!!!
I have been on the most exciting trip of a life time on the other side of the world catching a bucket list species with my Bestie Dave Francis and hosted by Sport Fish Asia Juan Wei.
Along with an amazing cultural experience the fishing has been second to none with multiple double hook ups each day.
For those who know him Danger Dave has been at his best boarding the wrong boat and being fed by other tables in a restaurant.

Outstanding trip with SFA
A truly amazing fishing experience. This was the first time for three generations of my family to fish together, the youngest 11 YO.
Absolutely no trouble for Juan Wei and his skipper Stephen (with his immaculate boat). Although a little quiet in early July we all caught several sailfish, plus Cobia, queenfish and small Spanish mackerel. First sailfish was caught by my grandson unaided, sensational effort.
Juan Wei is a fabulous and friendly host and nothing is any trouble. Roti Canai for breakfast and fabulous local food for dinner, plus snacks and lunch on the boat every day.
Great job Juan Wei, we’ll be back.

Had a great day out with Juan and the guys today, could not be happier, all 4 of us caught large sails today.
If you are coming to Kuala Rompin you could not do better than going with Sportfishing Asia
Thank you Juan for a wonderful experience, right from the start everything went seamlessly, the fishing was unsurpassed with everyone on our group getting great sailfish.
The boat and crew were great and nothing was an issue, very friendly service and greatly appreciated.
Our wives were a bit apprehensive to start but you made them so comfortable.
The food, the food was unreal and accomodation very comfortable.
We would not hesitate to recommend Sportfishing Asia to anyone as it is one of the best charter operations we have ever went with.
We will be back to try another species as Sailfish have well and truly been ticked off the bucket list.

Sport Fishing Asia 5 Star experience all the way!
Joined Juan and the crew for Rompin Sailfish and Belum Snakehead (Toman) fishing over 9 days (including transit days).
Firstly we went into this adventure with relatively high expectations for the fishing, whilst being careful on what to expect from the accommodation side. Rumor was that the Rompin accommodation was going to be rustic, this couldn’t be further from the truth. The home stay townhouse we stayed in was clean, cooled and very comfortable. Zero to complain about at all.
The fishing with Juan, Sky and crew was an amazing experience that I’ll never forget, something about a spin reel screaming the song of its people with a sailfish on the line was amazing.
The food at Rompin was first class, new experiences and tastes were experienced everyday. Roti canai for breakfast and the green roll snacks were standouts.
Traveling to Royal Belum with Juan was a great way to see a substantial part of the country and absorb the changing and varied environment of Malaysia.
The Belum Rainforest Resort was an unexpected pleasure for our rainforest adventure. Clean and very comfortable with plenty of resort features like the pool was a very welcome environment to cool down after a day on the water.
Much thanks to our guides, including Grumble Bum, Diawa and the amazing Bronco for putting up with the 5 Aussie larrikins (Bonsai!!) they took into the rainforest chasing the prehistoric looking and hard fighting Giant Snakehead (Toman).
We all agreed that we couldn’t explain or describe this experience to anyone who hadn’t been there. If you’re even slightly interested in fishing go do this. Elephants, monkeys and 1000000 sounds of birds and insects will fill your day and clear your mind.
Sadly all good things come to an end and we were safely returned to Kuala Lumpur to head home.
In the end, an amazing experience that we will do again.
Juan and the team were completely focused on us achieving the fishing goals we took with us and added good humor and amazing food into the experience.
Seriously book in with SFA now.

Fishing was great fun even better
After 2 years of COVID lockdowns what a relief to be fishing with Juan, Sky and Khamal again.
A truly professional approach with a lot of fun and good natured ribbing thrown in. Just for Sky ‘cast, cast, cast, one o’clock, two o’clock, three o’clock, cast, cast, cast. We love you to Khamal.
Thanks Juan for looking after us so well, what an absolute pleasure it was for our 5 days fishing.
We even caught plenty of nice fish what a bonus.

An unforgettable fishing adventure with Sport Fishing Asia…
in the safe hands of Juan, Stv and Ming our decky from the local tackle shop created memories of a life time. Five days of world class fishing and fun times with expert angling advice exceeded all our expectations.
Rompin in Malaysia is about a five hour drive from Singapore!
Raising 30 sailfish in 5 days releasing 23 after multiple double, triple and even a quadruple hook up!!!!
Lots of laughter small bird, big bird, big bait, big fish!
An experience that 3 guys from the land down under will cherish for a life time. Many thanks to Steve for arranging the trip and Tony sharing this great trip together!
