New Giant Snakehead Fishing Spot Discovered!

Well, not exactly. But of all the places to catch a giant snakehead this will rank as among the most luxurious, off the room balcony of Bukit Merah Laketown Resort’s Kampung Air (water village).

Check out the video after the jump.

Comfortable and convenient, yes. Easy it was not! We managed to record the video towards the end of the fight.

The Toman took the bait at the edge of the grassy island, shot off under one of the ropes to the right, then into the pillars under the chalet, 180 degrees round a pillar and under another rope and somehow with lots of luck it was coaxed out again into the open water.

Lots of line stripping out of the Exceler-X 2500 reel and the way the 10 pound Fireline Crystal Fuse held up to all the above was pretty impressive to say the least. The line was all frayed in the end but it survived.

Landing the fish was another challenge from 5 meters up but somehow we managed that as well. Good thing a circle hook was used and it lodged perfectly at the corner of the Toman’s jaw.

For you gadget-inclined anglers, the first segment of the video was shot on an iPad and the second with a HTC Incredible S mobile phone, by Poh.

  1. nice catch..haha! how did you release it back? swan dive? looks like feisty 2-3kg bugger.

Any boats or non motorized canoe allowed there?

    1. You guessed it, swan dive! There wasn’t much of a choice.

The water level was really low, easily 5 to 6 foot than normal. If you look at the pillars and surrounding you can see the markings. Fishing will be even better when the water is up.

There are boating options and we took canoes out one morning.

        1. We used the resort’s canoes. I don’t see why launching your own will be an issue if you are a guest there. Will need to confirm this though.

The lake is huge so a thruster or something will be very good to have.

          1. Thruster or pure arm power isn’t a problem, got them both. 2 arm power or 50lb thrust on a NZ70 batt :-P. Will last me a whole day..lol!

Anyone in particular i can talk to? your special contact, better yet, special discount.

How much was your water chalet on the water?
