Freshly caught squid are yummy and they make excellent bait, both live and cut bait for bottom dwellers.
If you intend to keep the squid in the cooler, it is best to gut them or everything else in your cooler box may end up soaked in black ink.
Gutting and cleaning squid is pretty easy. Much quicker than cleaning fish so there’s no excuse not doing it.
