Here’s a link to download the 2013 Shimano Catalog for North America.
2013 Shimano Catalog – click to download PDF (165 MB)
Get the tissue paper out before you start drooling over the pages. The product contents are pretty much the same as you would find in Asia. At least you get to download and use it for quick easy reference.
Update: 2012/2013 Shimano catalog
Shimano have just shared their new catalog. This time in a digital version. Not sure about you but we’d prefer the slightly older fashion click to download PDF version.
We can the read it anytime and almost anywhere we choose. Especially if you have an iPad or something. Not having to be online to browse through is much more handier and frankly the UI does not thrill us either.
So click HERE to check out what’s new from Shimano for the next 12 months.
You can still find the link to the previous PDF catalog below (not sure how long they will retain it).
So which floats your boat? The digital version or PDF download, share your comment and get heard. [Read more…] about Shimano South East Asia 2012/13 Catalog
The Peacock Bass were not shy that day for sure. Between the 3 of us more than 60 was caught and released. In the right conditions, the Peacock Bass is more than just one the hardest fighting freshwater fish pound-for-pound on the planet but are also a survivor.
This brute of the Cichlid family from the Amazon appears to have settled down in many countries other than South America. They were introduced on purpose into Florida waters to control the Tilapia (another cichlid) outbreak and now reside merrily along with other immigrants from Asia namely the infamous fishzilla, the Snakeheads!
Over here in South East Asia it is the other way round where the Peacock Bass has invaded the traditional homes of the Snakeheads. The Peacock Bass is most abundant in Malaysia (almost throughout the country), certain waters in Singapore, the Philippines and some appears to starting the appear in Thailand too. It was and still is a controversial species especially in Malaysia where it first started appearing sometime in the mid nineties.
They are the bane for tree huggers and a boon for sports anglers!
The fighting quality of the Peacock Bass cannot be argued. Once hooked it just goes berserk. There is no turbo-charged run but instead the fight can go in any direction! Away, down, up, left, right or airborne, you never quite know what the Peacock Bass you just hooked might do which makes it so crazy fun to catch. And they fight hard and fight till you boat them, if the fish did not somehow throw the hook. The best way to catch a Peacock Bass is to fish with appropriate tackle to maximize the fun. Speaking of fun, I find fly-fishing for them is nothing short of awesome and it’s a very effective method as well. [Read more…] about Peacock Bass Fishing – 60+ fish caught and released in one day
The Angling & Outdoor Recreational Fair 2010 (What a mouthful. I will just call it the KL Tackle Show 2010) is a 3-day event held from Nov 5-7. Back after a 3-years lapse, the local fishing community is full of anticipation and hungry for a good show.
That may be the reason visitors we talked to felt the show is lacking. The expectations were presumably high and that makes it difficult to please everyone. More on this later.
We arrived early on the first day and bumped into Sea-Am Lim who was just leaving. Lim is the writer of Haruan Soup in the No Fish Talk segment of Rod & Line magazine. He was there earlier for the media/official opening ceremony. There was a large crowd and I suspect the early bird gifts had something to do with it. Can’t tell you what these gifts are though, as I do not have a clue.
Garmin, the main sponsor of the event, actually took up the front area though it looks like Shimano did. Is there something wrong with the Shimano logo? Anyway, for those who is interested to know, Garmin had some nice ladies manning their booth which showcased their GPS range. So did Pure Fishing. Good effort guys but still a far cry compared to the TFTMA Bangkok Tackle Show girls *hint hint*.
The Garmin girls
Back to fishing, err… Garmin, who are also having promotional offers for their products. Garmin launched their latest Nuvi 3790 in conjunction with the show. [Read more…] about Angling & Outdoor Recreational Fair 2010, KL
