Fly-tyer and Fly-caster Profile: Hans Van Klinken – Netherlands

As part of the lead-up to the International Fly-Fishing Festival 2012, we will feature celebrity guests that will feature during the 2-day event.

Hans van Klinken was born in 1956, he started fly fishing at the age of 15 in Norway. Hans began fly-tying in 1976. By the early eighties, he was creating his own designs, mostly parachutes.

Hans’ favourite patterns are parachutes, emerges and realistic nymphs. He enjoys sharing his knowledge about fly-fishing and fly-tying, and is particularly skilled in taking of Atlantic salmon and grayling on dry flies.

Hans van Klinken’s best-known patterns are the large L.T series, developed in Norway in the early eighties, including the Klinkhåmer Special and the ParaPoly Sedge, his Leadheaded grayling bugs, the Caseless Caddis series, the Remerger series, his Flymph series, the Para-poly sedges, the Baetis nymph and dun, the Once and Away series, the Ugly Bugs, the Bondal series and the Culard series. Not forgetting his productive series of salmon patterns, of which many are dries.
