What makes Kuala Rompin special as a sport fishing destination? It has got to be the huge number of sailfish concentrated at a fairly small area.
Multiply the fun
Multiple hookup is very common when sailfish fishing at Kuala Rompin. Not only on the boat you are fishing on but simultaneous hookups of sailfish on every boat within sight in the vicinity!
The sailfish can be everywhere and quite unbelievable. Some will swim pass just a meter or two from the boat. One of the signs to indicate the presence of sailfish is the frigate birds hovering and waiting to dive-in and grab a baitfish that the sailfish have pushed to the surface. It is said that for every bird that you see, there is one sailfish that you don’t see under the surface.
If you set four lines out you will probably have four sailfish hooked on at one time. It’s no guarantee that will happen. Just not uncommon.
Word of advise though. Don’t try this unless you have experienced anglers on board. Inexperienced anglers will get overly excited, shouts for attention and instructions, uncoordinated landings, unnecessarily long fight time, big fish can be dangerous, especially those with nasty dentures or long sharp pointy nose. Mayhem. I’ve witnessed them. Things can get ugly.
