Florida FWC Votes to Make Bonefish a Gamefish

Bonefish is to officially become a gamefish in Florida. This is great news for sport fishermen and it should be emulated elsewhere, with control of course, for more game-fishes.

The current 1 fish daily bag limit will be abolished and bonefish will be catch and release only effective 1 July 2011.

Only hook and line is permissible for bonefish with temporary possession for photographs and documentation of a record catch.

Bravo to Florida FWC and those involved to make this happen.

  1. Bonefish are awesome to catch and I am excited about Florida’s decision to make them a catch and release game fish. Hopefully we can enjoy Bonefish for many years to come. Maybe they will eventually hold tournaments.
