Tuz and Toon made a two-day fishing trip to Kuala Rompin for their first sailfish experience. The goal was for Tuz to catch a sailfish on fly.
Since neither of them have ever caught a sailfish before, we decided to try to let them catch one each the ‘easier’ way, live bait on spinning gear.
Day one morning session video
Below is the part one video of their trip where we went out to catch some live baits and geared up with one of our favourite reels for the job, a 4500 series PENN Spinfisher VI reel.
Once we got that out of the way, we stopped for lunch onboard and proceeded to setup the fly fishing gear for the afternoon session.
Fortunately it didn’t take long for the action to get started!
A couple of sailfish obliged and came in after the teaser and Tuz also hooked onto a mystery fish in the process.
