After Fishing Walkabout in Male, Maldives.

Never been to Male, the capital (island) of Maldives? Scroll through the images to take a short tour with us.

Our fishing trips to the Maldives usually involves a short stop at Male while we wait to catch our flight home.

The wait for the flight check-in is about 3 hours so there is a bit of time to just walk around the island of Male. The airport is situated on an island adjecant to Male, like how the rest of Maldives is made of, small islands everywhere. Many of which are inhabited.

There is really not much to do on Male but it should be made an experience to take in the sights and smell if you’ve never set foot here. You’re here anyway.

The temperature in Male can be very hot. As the island is fairly small, it can be quite crowded and chaotic.

Approaching Male island – used to be sparsely occupied when I first came a long time ago.

Boats, yachts and planes are a common sight here.

Plenty of commercial fishing boats. Boat traffic can be pure madness.

A visit will not be complete without a visit to the fish market

Surgeon fish – I find the locals have a strange taste for fish. Fish we like to eat are normally not liked by them and vice-versa.
