How To Snell Hooks

Snell hook or snell knot has many use and comes in handy for many fishing situations.

Some of them are:

  • Tying leader line to hooks without eyes
  • To have a clean straight knot to hook
  • To tie tandem or gang hooks for rigging strip baits, dead or live bait, billfish flies

The snell knot is also one of the easiest knots to tie and there are a few ways to snell hooks. In this video I will demonstrate how we do it.

Tandem Hooks for Billfish Flies

Snelling hooks to create a tandem rig is also commonly used for rigging billfish flies where the leader will be treaded through the tube in the middle of the fly before being connected to the rest of the leader system.
