2011 Daiwa Morethan Branzino New Concept Lever Brake Reel. More than what?

Here’s another reel with something new for the trigger-happy angler in you.

The Daiwa Morethan Branzino fishing reel which is based on the highly popular Certate is not new but Daiwa has added the trigger mechanism to the Morethan Branzino 2508SH LBD.

What’s in a name?

Daiwa Morethan Branzino 2508SH LBD. What a mouthful! I always feel the Japanese have a strange way of naming many of their products, even the top of the range Shimano Stella. Why Stella? Anyone knows?

In this case, Branzino is the name of the European Seabass. Highly regarded as a food fish, it is often marketed as Mediterranean seabass, bronzini or branzini (branzino is the name of the fish in Northern Italy; in other parts of Italy, it is called spigola or ragno). In Spain, where, due to its popularity, it is farmed, it is called lubina or róbalo. (source wiki).

Hence this reel is also called Seabass Game. But why “Morethan“? I have absolutely no idea.

Check-out how the reel works in this video and see it in action in the next one.

  1. “Shimano Stella. Why Stella? Anyone knows?”… maybe it’s behind the meaning of Stella; a star. So why Stella? Because it’s the star of Shimano Fishing.
