Watch Geoff and the PENN Slammer 3 reel perform in this 2 hours 45 minutes battle between man and beast.
The reel drag remained smooth and it even went on to catch more sailfish after the marlin.
Geoff has fished with us a couple of times along with good friend, Graham.
This trip turns out to be a special one. The first fish on the first day turns out to be a nice black marlin.
Sailfish far outnumber marlin here in Kuala Rompin so to hook one is to be rather lucky.
The next challenge comes to fighting a powerful fish with light-medium gear meant for sailfish.
You can’t muscle the fish in due to the light breaking strain of the leader and every time the fish is boat side, it just takes off again.
Geoff has limited mobility and did great to battle the powerful black for nearly three hours all on his own.
