THE LIMITED EDITION DAIWA MILLIONAIRE LIGHT 103 I’ZE is quite a stunning looking reel. But I do find the color combo ostentatious. This reel is made for freshwater application and I do wonder if anyone actually use it on a regular basis or more for collection sake.
Any owners of this reel care to share their experience about its performance and such?
Ostentaious? Isn’t that the word used by Robert Downey Jr. in Ironman when he painted the suit hot rod red and gold. This reel has Ironman written all over it. I like the color combo.
Hahaha! Believe it or not Ironman never crossed my mind when I saw the reel. You are way more observant in this case.
This reel though was made in 2005 if not mistaken, before the movie but you are right, it suits Ironman to a T. In fact it looks like it may have been made using parts taken from his armor!
How can a person use such a sexy looking reel to fish with. Finished in what looks like Satin, it would be a crime! I would like to strip the reel down and check it out closely and admire its body parts, that is if I own one.
I definitely would love to get my hands on it, but can’t seem to find one…at a decent price. I for one will not keep it solely as a collection but a functional reel to appreciated in the field. Use but not abuse. :-P
JC, I’m like you.
I use the stuffs that lands in my hands. But unlike you, I tend to abuse stuffs, not intentionally but they get really “used” :)
hahaha….fine line between use/abuse! I am more on the use, push it to the limits but use it for what it’s intended for..and at the end, some TLC to make sure it last a lifetime before headed to retirement in the closet. :-P
So what’s a good price for this reel? Brand new was only 500usd…seems like the collectors wanna sell it for way more than it. Making it not worth it… there was one out for 1800rm! crazy but i wouldn’t mind 1200rm. whatcha think?
JC, as I’m not one of the reel-collector type that’s a tough question, so 1.8k is on the high side IMHO.
Yea, i can get a ryoga for 1600 vs this…even if at the same price, i am torn between form vs function. haha! dammit.
It will go really nice with lamiglas 705.
If i do get it, i can do the review for ya :-P
Decision, decisions…
OK, get the plastic out and get the reel. I’m looking forward to your review :)
Thanks for sharing that link.
I’ve yet to try one of these ‘hybrid graphite-fiberglass’ rods. I’ve an old Ugly Stik that I love but it is definitely on the heavy side for extended lure casting.
JC,
The same reel, brand new for only USD440. Better be quick!
Btw, i had some “abuse” by tomans…poor build quality of 2 veritas rods didn’t survive it. Those were the first time ever a rod broke on me..
oh wait, i had a GL3 broke (many years ago) on the first hookup but it was a defect which was promptly replaced and issue solved. :-P
Yup, Tomans are great fun to catch haha! 2 Veritas rods?!
Many fishing rods these days are too fragile. They should come with a “handle with care” label :) and a broken-glass graphic.
A sexy Ironmanreel.
I would use it as often as possible
YES I am a show off and I love to use the stuff I buy ;-)
Haha yes. Why admire something beautiful alone when we can let others ogle too :)
It is a big act to get stuff like this here.
A superherosuit is made for use not for ogle…it is my way to admire things
Cool.
I love this reel and the first time I fished with it was on the Calif. Delta for King Salmon using a G. Loomis GLX SASR-1002c Rod casting spinners. I was lucky to land one that day at (26.7lb.) from the bank, it was hard on me landing the fish because a harbor seal was after my fish but that rod and reel helped give me the win! Did I say I love reel? Lol.
You’re lucky to have this nice reel model. And well done on a nice king salmon!
