There can be loop holes when fly fishing for sailfish and I’ve seen many charters catching sailfish on fly in very “interesting” ways, as the pressure builds to put customers onto fish. Perhaps some do it because they transitioned from conventional fishing to fly-fishing, so, they don’t really get what fly-fishing really is. It is highly probable that the crew onboard may not even be fly fishers themselves. Perhaps only fly fishermen who have attempted catching billfish or sailfish on fly will really know what we are talking about here.
When executed properly, however, the reward is that much sweeter and the satisfaction, indescribable.
Check out this short video of Mr Ti hooking up a sailfish and subsequently went on to land the fish.
It felt like a multiple hookup for Ti as the fish hit, came tight, came loose and tight again three times.
If you have not experience this yet, you should!
