The river monsters have landed in Asia. Like a tit-for-tat of certain species of Snakehead invading US waters we too may soon see monstrous Alligator Gars in asian waters. Guess it is a universal problem.
While strolling in a friendly neighborhood aquarium shop I spotted a bunch of juvenile Alligator Gars (A. Spatula) conspicuously lying still on the base of a fish tank. Alligator Gars as many of us knows can grow to humongous proportions complete with a set of impressive denture.
There are 2 more gars at the back of the tank eyeballing… wait… Piranhas! Great, that’s what we need. More immigrants.
Who will be taking these ugly looking denizens home? Will they outgrow their fish tank? Very likely. Will they be released into a river near you? Possibly.
So the epic questions are probably will they spawn and grow into a healthy population and spread? Only time will tell.
