Sailfish fishing at Kuala Rompin – What is a typical day like?

(Main photo): Alan with another nice sailfish

The boat departs from the jetty at around 0730-0800 hours. The party then travel about 20 nautical miles to the sailfish ground, stopping along the way to gather bait.

You will be fishing a few spots throughout the day and finally leaving back for the jetty at around 1700 hours.

The above is assuming fine weather.

Bonus tips:

Breakfast

Have a hearty breakfast as I notice most anglers don’t eat much out on the boat. Especially under the hot weather, rough seas or when the bite is hot.

Seasickness

For those prone to motion sickness, remember to take your pills or whatever precaution beforehand. No point hoping it will be alright or for the sake of ego and screwing a day out on the waters. For tips on overcoming seasickness, read this post.

Lunch

Lunch is usually provided but do check with your respective charter operator. Pre-pack your preferred food for lunch if you prefer certain particular food e.g. fruits or snacks like sandwich.

Sun protection

Don’t forget your sunscreen or wear proper sun protection that are comfortable. The sun can be unforgiving.
